Chevy Continues to Transform onto the Big Screen

Parkway Chevrolet is proud that announce that Chevrolet and a Camaro that converts into the iconic Bumblebee will once again turn heads when the Transformers movie franchise returns to screens around the globe in the upcoming “Transformers: Age of Extinction” from director Michael Bay, in theaters June 27.

The latest film also features Chevrolet's sold around the world including a Corvette Stingray that converts to Autobot Crosshairs, a Trax and a Sonic outfitted as a Rally Car.

The fifth-generation Camaro converted into Bumblebee in the 2007 film “Transformers,” the 2009 film “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” and the 2011 film “Transformers: Dark of the Moon.” The latest edition features two Camaros specifically built for the film, one a heavily modified vintage 1967 Camaro SS and the other a futuristic concept Camaro.

“The Transformers movies have been a great partnership for Chevrolet by allowing us to introduce our vehicles to new fans, young and old, around the world,” said Tim Mahoney, chief marketing officer, Global Chevrolet. “Now for the fourth time, you’ll see a Camaro as a heroic Autobot, a fitting role for one of the stars of Chevrolet’s lineup.”

Said Lee Anne Stables, executive vice president of Worldwide Marketing Partnerships for Paramount Pictures: “The Chevrolet partnership with this iconic Michael Bay movie franchise has become one of the longest-running and most innovative movie-brand relationships in film history. This new Chevy campaign will definitely bring new and exciting elements to a global audience of Transformers movie fans around the world.”

In addition to providing vehicles for the production, General Motors’ locations for filming included GM Design at the Warren Technical Center, the Milford Proving Ground and the Lansing Grand River Assembly plant.

Chevrolet Joins the Fight Against Cancer

Chevrolet Stands Strong with the American Cancer Society

Parkway Chevrolet is proud of the brand and its involvement with The American Cancer Society Chevrolet’s Purple Roads initiative helps patients get to treatment • Social media users asked to purple their profiles to support Road to Recovery

DETROIT – Today Chevrolet announced it will donate $1  – up to a total of $1 million – for each Facebook and Twitter user who changes his or her profile to purple, the color of cancer survival, in time for World Cancer Day on Feb. 4.

The Purple Roads initiative will help the American Cancer Society raise money and awareness for its Road to Recovery program, which provides transportation to and from treatment for people who have cancer and do not have a ride. Volunteer drivers donate time and the use of their cars so that patients can receive the life-saving treatments they need. Road to Recovery offered nearly 1 million rides last year alone.
“The Purple Roads initiative will drive awareness and support for the Road to Recovery program, which helps patients get the treatment they need, and getting treatment means more survivors,” said Paul Edwards, U.S. vice president, Chevrolet Marketing. “We hope at least one million people will help celebrate survivors and the people who support them by joining Chevrolet in the Purple Your Profile movement for World Cancer Day.”

“Lack of transportation can be a significant barrier to staying on track with cancer treatment,” said Lin Mac Master, chief revenue marketing and communications officer for the American Cancer Society. “Patients are often too sick to drive themselves, and the demands of work and family life make it difficult for caregivers  to drive patients to all treatments. The need is even more acute in areas lacking reliable public transportation.
“Chevy’s generous contribution will help the American Cancer Society put cancer patients back on the road to recovery, helping us ensure those in need of a ride to potentially lifesaving treatment get one.”
According to Transportation and Cancer Care, an estimated 3.6 million Americans each year delay or have difficulty obtaining needed medical care because they lack affordable transportation.
The Purple Roads program joins Chevrolet’s ongoing support of the American Cancer Society, which includes the recent $1.1-million donation on behalf of partnering Chevrolet dealers to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and 11 years of in-kind and monetary support for the Detroit Cattle Barons Ball.

News For the 2015 Chevy Cruze

Parkway Chevrolet has been following the news on the new 2015 Chevy Cruze from the New York Auto Show. To say the refresh performed on the 2015 Chevy Cruze is mild would be an understatement. Besides a new fascia that more closely follows Chevy's corporate styling theme as seen on the Malibu and Impala, there is very little to visually set the new Cruze apart from the old. Whether the updated look is an improvement is up for debate, but we're sure all 2015 Cruze shoppers will be pleased with the increased functionality of the car's in-cabin technology.

The 2015 Cruze boasts a seven-inch touch screen in the center console powered by the latest versions of the brand's OnStar and MyLink software packages. With it comes the ability to act as a 4G Wi-Fi hotspot, Siri Eyes Free for iPhone iOS 6 and iOS 7 users, and, soon, access to the new Chevrolet AppShop. The interior sees a few minor improvements, such as reshaped cupholders and some switches and buttons that have been made more conveniently accessible.

As we said, the updates are all pretty minor, but we’re more than positive that the updates are a sheer improvement on the overall luxury to the vehicle. The visual ascetic to the vehicle is one that we feel will allow the brand to continue to move in the uniform direction that the entire Chevy line is trending. We will keep our ear to the road for you, and keep you posted on any other updates.

Chevrolet is Bringing the Trax SUV to the U.S. and China

Parkway Chevrolet is keeping their ear to the ground in regards to the news surrounding the Chevrolet Trax.
The Chevrolet Trax will go on sale in the U.S. and China early next year. General Motors Co. unveiled the 2015 model Tuesday evening ahead of the New York International Auto Show.

GM thinks young buyers and downsizing Baby Boomers who like the Chevy Equinox and the Honda CR-V will go even smaller, as long as they can still sit up high. The Trax, which shares a platform with Chevrolet's Sonic subcompact, is the same length as a Volkswagen Beetle — 168.5 inches.

The compact SUV's dimensions (and engine, for that matter) are the same as GM's new Buick Encore, which has seen stronger-than-expected sales since it went on sale in January 2013. Encore sales more than doubled in the first three months of this year compared with the same period last year. The Trax has been sold since 2012 in Canada and Mexico. It is sold as the Chevrolet Tracker in Russia , South America and other markets.

In terms of size, the Mitsubishi Outlander and Nissan Juke are close competitors, but there aren't many others. The Trax's body style is unusual in the U.S., where the smallest SUVs tend to be around 175 inches or longer.

But that's changing. The Jeep Renegade SUV, a Fiat-based subcompact revealed last month in Geneva, goes on sale in the U.S. at the end of this year. Honda has teased an upcoming small SUV. And other automakers that sell tiny SUVs elsewhere could quickly bring them to the U.S. if customers demand them. Chevrolet forecasts global small SUV sales will jump 80 percent by 2016.

Gas prices in the U.S. could dictate how well subcompact SUVs sell. The Energy Department expects gasoline to average $3.45 a gallon this year, down from $3.51 a year ago. The agency expects the average to fall to $3.37 a gallon in 2015.

The Trax for the U.S. market will be built in South Korea and Mexico.

INSIDE: The Trax promises some higher-end features, including a standard keyless entry, standard rear-view camera and optional OnStar 4G cellular and WiFi hotspot capability. It has 48.4 cubic feet of cargo space and flat-folding rear and front passenger seats for more flexibility. It also has 10 standard air bags, including knee air bags and the segment's only rear seat-mounted thorax air bags.

OUTSIDE: It's wide and solid despite its small size. Sixteen-inch wheels are standard on LS and LT trim levels. The LYZ has 18-inch aluminum wheels. All-wheel drive is available.

UNDER THE HOOD: Trax is powered by the Ecotec 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which is expected to get 138 horsepower. It's mated to a six-speed transmission.

GAS MILEAGE: 26 mpg city, 34 mpg highway

PRICE: Not yet released, but it starts at around $17,000 in Canada.

CHEERS: GM is at the leading edge of a big trend with the Trax, which appeals to both young buyers and Baby Boomers who want to downsize but still want to sit up high.

JEERS: Buyers are bypassing subcompact cars as gas prices stabilize. They may do the same with tiny SUVs.
